Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between hypnotherapy and stage hypnosis?
Hypnotherapy involves taking the client into a state of deep relaxation, to make positive changes, via the subconscious mind to resolve issues that are affecting their day to day living. Qualified hypnotherapists are bound to a strict code of conduct and ethical rules. Stage hypnosis is used for entertainment purposes and uses completely different techniques. A stage hypnotist will only pick people that are highly susceptible to hypnosis.

Will I be in control?
Yes the client is always in full control over what he/she says and does. As a hypnotherapist, I cannot make you do or say anything that you do not want to. No, I cannot make you cluck like a chicken around the room!

Will I be asleep?
No, despite popular belief that you go into a deep sleep during hypnosis, you are actually awake and fully conscious the whole time. Hypnotherapy uses relaxation skills so you feel deeply relaxed during a session.

How many sessions will I need?
This varies from person to person, depending on the complexity of the issue you are seeking treatment for. However, mild issues can usually be resolved within 4-6 sessions.

How long is a session?
All sessions last one hour, except for smoking cessation which are 2 hour block sessions.

How successful is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy can be very successful, although there are no guarantees as it is dependent on a number of certain factors such as a good rapport between the therapist and the client, the complexity of the problem they seek help for and the commitment and willingness to change on the client's part.
