Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT)

Integral eye movement therapy is a brief but effective type of therapy. It works by asking the client to follow the therapist's finger movements using their eyes only, whilst vividly thinking of a memory that has negative emotions or feelings attached to it. When your eyes follow these new patterns it enables the brain to reprocess the memory differently thus releasing the negative emotions attached to it.

For example, if you were involved in a car accident, every time you think of that memory or are triggered by it you feel sad, anxious, fearful but if you were to follow a new pattern with your eye movements working with IEMT then the memory would be processed differently and the negative feelings become blurred, less effective, harder to recall and sometimes even impossible to recall. So the memory remains the same, but the negative feelings are no longer there.

In IEMT I work with emotional imprints and identity imprints. If you have been told by someone you trust or someone in high authority that you are stupid or incapable of achieving something, then you will more than likely believe this which creates an emotional imprint within you. Your beliefs are now that you are incapable of achieving a goal and you give up trying. Sound familiar?

Identity imprints work with problems with your identity, i.e. gender, religion, how you see yourself and perceive yourself, how others perceive you etc. Identity issues can arise when a big change happens in your life and you question who you are or you lose yourself.

I also work with patterns of chronicity which are behavioural patterns that have been learned. There are five different types I work with and this help explains how you think and behave.

IEMT can be effective at working with all types of issues from anxiety and depression to stress, PTSD, self-esteem and confidence issues, anger management and many more.

Sessions are £60 per hour.
